How 2 Drive are a great company to go with. My instructor Jim was so friendly and worked with me towards my test (passed first time). I felt comfortable throughout every lesson and Jim helped build my confidence and driving skills massively. I highly recommend!!
My instructor (Stephen Crawford-Brown) is an incredibly attentive driving instructor who pays attention to every detail during lessons. He truly understood how important passing the driving test was to me and went above and beyond to help me practice correctly in various real-life and test scenarios.I am so grateful for his patience and understanding, especially since my English isn’t very strong. Stevie made every effort to communicate clearly and ensure I understood everything in a simple and effective way. Thanks to him, I not only passed my test but also feel confident about driving safely in the future. Thank you, Stevie, for such a wonderful learning experience!Lita
Being with How 2 Drive has been a very good experience. My instructor Jim Mason was such a huge help to me in helping pass my practical test. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an instructor in learning to drive as he’ll take everything at the pace you need to do to learn. I would once again love to thank him for everything he has done for me.
Blair was great - very patient, extremely thorough, used pops and picture prompts to support learning. Used same terminology throughout lessons which helped.
Howard was so patient and kind when I was learning to drive, it really put me at ease and ensured that I loved driving. Best Instructor I could’ve asked for!

Shahram was a great instructor. Loved how he guided me step by step during the initial learning period and helped me build confidence steadily. Was extremely patient and happy to show me different skills and how to drive safely. Passed my test first time thanks to him!
5* for my instructor Pete Marsden, was so patient with me and knew exactly how to interpret and understand my anxieties. After failing my test the first time Pete calmly explained what I needed to do to improve and worked with me to ensure I passed the second time and I was so glad I did
I highly recommend Andrew Birch. 👌🏼😁

I passed my test 2nd time with only 1 minor 🙂

Andrew helped me overcome my nerves and gave me the confidence I never had! Hes friendly and fun but also strict when needed to be, i didn't feel uncomfortable, he made the lessons fun, really enjoyed our chats. he's seen the laughter and some tears (sorry about that) 🤣🤣

I'll definitely miss the lessons, more so his car 🥹🤣🤣

Thankyou for everything you've done Andrew, i wouldn't of been able to pass if it wasn't for you!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Passed yesterday, first time after being taught by Sara Jenkins, she’s an encouraging instructor with so much patience. She really listens to what helps you learn and is very adaptive to that. I always felt comfortable when driving with her.
Couldn’t recommend Sara and How2Drive enough!
Thankyou for everything.
After passing my driving test with only 2 minors I can very confidently recommend Ian Oxley from How-2-Drive! He was a very patient, kind and encouraging instructor who made sure that lessons were a good mix of new challenges and skills building. Before learning with Ian, I was very nervous behind the wheel and was unsure if I would ever pass my driving test, but in a few short months I made more progress than I ever thought was possible. Driving lessons used to be source of anxiety for me, but after I started learning with Ian I quickly gained confidence and looked forward to our lessons because I always felt like I was making progress towards passing my test even when I made mistakes.
Additionally, I also found that lessons were always easy to arrange even around my unpredictable schedule and the app was very helpful for tracking my progress and payments. I would definitely recommend Ian and How-2-Drive to anyone looking to learn. Overall, a professional, progress-oriented and good value driving school with very patient and engaging instructors!

Have questions about taking driving tuition with us?

Can I Take Automatic Driving Lessons?
Yes, you can! We now have automatic instructors for the following locations:
Do You Offer Intensive Driving Lessons?

Yes! We are happy to announce that we are now able to offer intensive driving lessons in both the Greater Norwich area and the Lowestoft and Yarmouth areas.

How Long Will it Take to Pass My Test?

If you are a beginner we can teach you to drive to a high standard in around 30 hours. By this point you’ll be ready to pass your test.

If you already have some driving and road experience we’ll aim to do it even quicker than that!

How Many Driving Lessons Will I Need Before I Take My Test?

This is easily one of the most common questions we get asked at How-2-Drive.

We know you want to learn how to drive in as few lessons as possible. We understand that you don’t want to feel rushed. But, at the same time, you also don’t want your tuition to drag on for longer than necessary.

Clearly-structured driving lessons

By using our Structured Driver Training System, we are able to deliver well-planned lessons that have clear objectives. Learning to drive is a considerable investment and we want you to get good value for your money.

According to the DVSA, it takes an average of 47 hours to pass the practical driving test. And that’s for learners who are sensible enough to study with an Approved Driving Instructor. On top of this, the DVSA says an additional 20 hours of private driving practice is also required.

How many sessions can we save you?

But who wants to be average? As a result of our specially-designed Structured Driver Training System, our pupils take 17 hours less than the DVSA average!

Our tried-and-tested system can reduce the time it will take you to learn to drive. We consistently bring our pupils up to pass standard within 30 to 40 hours of instructor contact time.

That’s up to 17 hours less than the average learner driver. We can save you time and money!

How Will I Know How I’m Getting On With My Lessons?

You will be given your own Learning to Drive Handbook when you start taking driving lessons with us. Your instructor will use it to record your progress after each lesson. This will give you a record of how well you are doing and what you need to learn or practice next.

You will also be encouraged to keep a reflective log. You can use this to review your own learning so that you can discuss your objectives with your driving instructor at the start of each lesson.
